Milestone!

It’s been quite a while since I made my last post (unmotivated to type out a post); lots of things have happened, sooooo brace f0r a long post.

I got a brand new Razer Deathadder and a Razer Vespula. Kicking rad, these things. They came in a bundle at 125, originally 140. Quick review – the mouse is super awesome. The scroll wheel has an LED in it, and there’s a Razer logo near the end that also has an LED that lights it up. Two macro buttons on the side. I don’t have any particular use for them right now, but I’m sure I’ll find one. The sensitivity and response time is also great. The tracking sensor uses infrared light, so you can’t see it. Using it in combo with the Vespula, it feels like I’m on ice; very smooth tracking.

COUGH COUGH WHEEZE WHEEZE – I’m officially ill ):
I caught the flu from Norman (who had it real bad), then after doing my napfa 2.4km run, I pulled my hamstrings and got crippled for about a week and right now, the flu is still in effect. I’ve been on a regiment of paracetamol because I have this ungodly headache that quite literally cripples the left side of my face. The left side hurts – even my freakin’ tooth (it’s not tooth decay, something is pressing on the nerve that controls tooth pain). It’s like this.. really bad dull pain. The paracetamol helps to mask the pain, but after it wears off, all hell breaks lose and the pain starts moving back in. Don’t even get me started on this goddamned cough. Sometimes, I can’t even complete a sentence without my gag reflex kicking in after a fantastic course of the cough.

Latest accomplishments

That is all – off for another pill

Satisfactory satisfaction

MYE results are in – the unexpected becomes reality
(all scores include all their papers ie. paper 1, 2 and 3)

English: B3 (whaaaaaaat, I wanted an A2)
Chinese: D7 (shockingly not lowest in class)
Maths: A2 (huzzah!)
Science: A1 (oh yeah)
History: A2 (not too shabby, better than expected)
Geography: A1 (hell yeah, highest in class – beat zhengheng and all the other smart people into the ground except norman)
D&T: A2 (satisfactory – I expected a C or B due to my crappy drawings)

A1s and A2s with a dash of D7 and B3. Not too shabby, I expected much worse. Me mom’s giving me 250 bucks to spend on crap since I got like, 5 As? Albeit low As, they’re still As on paper.

Agenda for the week:-

  • Annoy Charmaine
  • Annoy the rest of the girls in class
  • Annoy more people
  • Gloat at zhengheng for geography (yes I’m that narcissistic)
  • Send very angry emails to ThinkGeek on why they ship to Zimbabwe but not Singapore (WHY ZIMBABWE OF ALL PLACES)
  • Get signed up for piano lessons (my soon-to-be, hopefully, only life skill besides fixing computers)

Mom’s given me 250SGD to spend on random crap I desire for my more-than-satisfactory results, but I’ll probably end up blowing it up at the steam store. Anyone up for seeing that new Shrek movie? Leave a comment.

Don’t stop believin’

I have started watching Glee – pretty darn good show. In fact, I’m watching it at the time of writing this post.

Dolphins are gay sharks
-Sue Sylvester

Started playing Minecraft again, but I keep screwing up my forts and having to find new spots. I lack any measurable form of creativity for my forts, heh. All I do after screwing up is plant trees everywhere – then set them on fire.

Soooooo, yeah, same-old same-old like the weekends. I sit in front of the computer rotting away, blah blah blah.

Welcome to the Holiday Club, sort-of.

WELCOME TO DA HOLIDAY CLUBBBBBBBBB
(sort-of)

Another month of Hell with my teachers who definitely like me before a quick holiday, then back to Hell. Greaaaaat. I might get sent back to school after I die (you know, hell) – hopefully not. I’m not religious or superstitious anyway.

Finally got Linux Mint to boot on mah fancy new thumbdrive. Very nice GUI and looks pretty flexible to me. A switch from windows to linux, however, is definitely waaaaaaaaay out of question.

Been thinking of getting a new, bigger monitor. Current one is a 19″ display from Acer, max resolution of 1440×900 (this is 16:10). Thinking of getting a 22″+ monitor, then using my current one as a secondary display. Dual display setup, hell yeah.

I’m also thinking of getting a domain for this wordpress. It’s 15/year for the domain registration and the hosting is free by wordpress.com.

Lamy Safari

Terribly sorry for not updating for a couple o’ days – My internet’s been crapping itself and I can’t even stay connected long enough to post an update or anything.

ANYWAY – I went out with Jack, walked around a lot, blah blah blah, then bought myself a Lamy Safari fountain pen. Boy, does it feel awesome to write with. I don’t even need to grip the pen and press down to write. Hopefully I can get an even better pen and achieve.. pen nirvana.

Last few papers on Wednesday and Thursday weren’t as bad as I’d thought. Math Paper 2 was beyond torture and I kid you not – History had a picture of Lee Kuan Yew on a tiger as a source. Science was of easy to normal difficulty, D&T was also not that bad. Entire class cheered after we were allowed to speak after the D&T paper. Freedom till the end-of-year exam, greaaaaaaat.

Got a 4GB Sandisk thumbdrive from Jack (Thanks a lot), gonna use it as a live CD (or flash drive) for Linux. I skipped my audition thing I got ‘volunteered’ for, hopefully they won’t make me hunt for landmines with a mallet. Short post today – Too darn lazy to type more words.

Heck yes

HELL YES.

Geography test was moderately difficult. I think I ought to pass, but most probably not with flying colors. As for math.. HELL YEAH. It’s ridiculously easy, and I could answer all the questions. Easy as pi (yes, it’s a pun). I think I might actually get full marks for paper 1. Still, even if I do get 50/50 for paper 1, I still have to get at least 41/50 for paper 2 in order to get an A1 on my humble report card. Paper 2 is what I’m rather worried about. Who knows, perhaps paper 1 was purposely set easy in order to lull us into a false sense of security. Damn conspiring teachers.

Oh god it was so warm in the quadrangle. I sweated buckets and wanted to break down into little girly tears from the heat. I had to sit for my papers looking as if I went for a swim before hand. Singapore’s very warm climate FTL (4 teh loze).

So, yeah, same routine as with my other exam days. Paper -> break -> paper -> go home. Nothing really much to talk about. After school, walked to the LRT station with Jack and the (evil and damned) girls of my class. Nearly fell down on the train multiple times (curse you lousy autopilot, quit braking so hard and suddenly). Attempted to take a picture of zhengheng as he was right next to me in the train. I’d only seen him half-way through the ride. Picture resulted in his forehead shining like a brand new boot. As usual, Charmaine and Alison were less than 5 feet away from me and Jack. Stalkers, I swear.

Went to get some humble peasant lunch with Jack at Yoshinoya. Watching him eat is probably a person’s worse nightmare. Held down me lunch as I (tried not to) watch him eat. We then walked around compass point for a bit, bought an ink well for Jack’s Parker Vector, surprisingly very cheap.

Then went to the library to browse even more books than the day before, borrowed another one, “Know It All – The little book of essential knowledge” under Jack’s name because I couldn’t use mine. We then tried to look for books on fountain pens – all were not on loan but all of them were at the Ang Mo Kio library branch. Rotten luck as usual. Then Charmaine and Alison came to the library to ‘study’. WHY ARE THEY EVERYWHERE.

Walked to the flea market with Jack, looked through their wares again – nope, nothing interesting. Bought a Taiwanese sausage (I think that’s what they’re called) and a can of Coke. Bade farewell to Jack as he was going home by the bus, got home, did nothing.

My neck and head is hurting like maaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. MAD, I SAY. If I tilt my head over, I suddenly feel like I just got punched in the nose (yes i know the feeling – the dull pain and all). My wiring’s gone all.. haywire. Now I can’t move my head suddenly in any direction before the pain sets in and tries to steal my sanity. Describing the pain – it feels a bit like a really quick migraine that occurs when I move my head. Silly nervous system freaking out at everything.

Considering skipping the marketing video thing I was ‘volunteered’ for on friday to go to city with Jack. Yep, mind made up. Ain’t gonna do it.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd that ends it for the day.

My fountain pen ;_;

OH DEAR.

My fountain pen broke. ;_;

I’m rather sad that my comfortable-mass-writing privileges have been revoked by the damn pen breaking. Well, technically the pen still can be used to write, but it’s beyond uncomfortable. Even worse than having arthritis while using a ballpoint pen. The pen was only 5 bucks, but I didn’t expect it to break within 3 months.

Alright, enough of my grieving over my broken pen. Why don’t I talk about my papers today and grief even more. Failing in every aspect of learning the language of Chinese, I’m proud to announce that I can foresee my results already! My letter-writing still has hope – but my composition is simply too sad to talk about. What I wrote isn’t even related to the damn question. Moving on to paper 2, picked random answers as usual for the closed passage and the multiple choice questions for comprehension. Here comes the fun part – the open ended comprehension. There were two passages, and they weigh 40 marks over the 70 for the entire paper (2). I barely understood the first passage – and I’d completely fallen down the stairs with the second. Betting pool for how badly I’ll fail is now open.

After school, I went to eat with Darren Chan (or as I like to call him, Jack. Jack of all trades, master of none). KFC, Kentucky Fried Cruelty, yum yum. It makes my food much tastier knowing that animals suffered for it to reach my stomach, but I couldn’t care less (about the suffering by the animals). We then took a walk around Compass Point, browsed Popular for a bit, looking through almanacs (yeah we’re geeks – deal with it) and ‘for dummies’ guide books.

We then went to the library after realizing that getting books at Popular was nothing but a doomed dream. I wanted to borrow three books, Ripley’s Encyclopedia, Firefly’s World Of Facts and 50 Voices of Disbelief – Why we are atheists. I hadn’t visited the library for about 4 or 5 years, much less borrowed anything. My ez-link card couldn’t be used to borrow stuff because I needed to do some ‘verification’ rubbish after being inactive for so long and I could only do it at another library branch. I ended up using Jack’s ez-link card to borrow my books. Screw you NLB. Met with Dione, Yiting (Happy birthday!), Charmaine and Alison at the library. Silly girls, I’ll never understand why you giggle at everything. They laughed at me for constantly using my dictionary during Chinese paper 1 (wat).

Played more Bad Company 2 today, felt awesome after getting 7 headshots in a row (all marksman). Haven’t been motivated enough to play Team Fortress 2 anymore, but I suppose one day I’ll start craving it. Sold Jack my un-used GPU, a near-mint condition Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4650 1GB GDDR2 for 70 bucks, got it at 120. I’ve got my geography and math papers tomorrow, so I gotta go some quick skim-, oh, I mean, ‘revision’. Yes, you heard me right, ‘revision’. Fairly confident I can pass math this time. My algebra’s improved significantly after a crash course by my sister and the Internet.

Plans for the week:
Tuesday – Pass math, ace geography
Wednesday – Fail math, fail history
Thursday – Ace science, ace design and tech.
Friday – Do some marketing video thing so that the principal can get a pay-rise. Curse you teachers who nominated me for that crap. I am not happy. I wanted to sleep in on a weekday.

Going back to my broken fountain pen; I plan to go to the city area on Friday with Jack to get a new and hopefully longer-lasting pen. Aiming for a Waterman Phileas or a Lamy Safari, but hopefully the former. Till then, back to ball points for the exams. It breaks mid-way through the exams of all times. What a joke.

I’ll leave this here if anyone needs it. Fountain pens in Singapore. Good stuff.

Inaugural post

(yes, this is satire – don’t take it too seriously christians)

Check out the other videos by the same guy who made that video you just saw. If you cannot understand satire, drown yourself in a barrel of wine.

ALRIGHT – INAUGURAL POST TIME.

I went to this forsaken place in the middle of nowhere Jerald call’s his home to fix his (two) broken computers. He’d talked to me on the phone earlier and told me all that crap about his computer not working. I went to power the computer up, and it worked. Miracle touch ftw. Now he call’s me God! Then he told me to go fix his other broken computer (well, technically it’s his brother’s) – same ruddy thing happened. A touch and it works, then I tried breaking it to reproduce the problem. Hallelujah it worked (recreating the problem).

Here comes the part laced with jackassery. His brother, tried to be ‘gangsta’, and kicked the chair I was sitting on. The best part here, is that I was in the bios of his computer at the time. I could’ve broken his computer within 5 clicks of the mouse because if I changed the settings in the bios without any proper thought, his computer would be rendered unusable (for him). Sec 3 normal academic student ftw. I didn’t do it though. Yeah, disappointment all around.

Jerald then played with my iPhone (he likes Harbour Master) while I was taking a look at what was wrong with said computer. I’d found the problem, but didn’t fix it because of what his retarded brother did. Good luck with rebooting the computer 15 times before it starts working right.

Back to Jerald’s main computer (made for gaming), I updated his directx so that he could play CoD4, stayed at his house till about 6.30, then went home.

Hurr, it’s Sunday now. My favorite exam subject is tomorrow – Chinese paper 1 and 2. Greaaaaaaaat, feels awesome to fail at said subject without even trying. Geography and Math paper 1 on Tuesday. Math paper 2 and History on Wednesday. Science and D&T on Thursday. No papers on Friday! But, seeing as I got nominated for some marketing video bullcrap by our glorious teachers who without a doubt like me, I have to go back to school on Friday to talk in front of a camera – and I can’t skip it. Yeah, this sucks.

Going back to last Friday’s English papers, I wrote 6 pages of ink for my composition. 811 words hell yes. Didn’t manage to count my letter though. Then I had paper 2, only comprehension. I went to the toilet mid-way and threw up (hell yes) for some unknown reason. There goes my 2 dollars. Paper 2 is rather hard for me, don’t expect high marks this time round.

Alrighty, off to do math revision and play some Bad Company 2. Pimped out computer ftw.

P.S.: Uhh, who wants to get linked?

Hello world!

Hi there! As you probably already know, this is a blog.

Why Shoe Soup for the blog name? I haven’t got a clue at all. It just sprung into mind. Perhaps I’m subconsciously obsessed with shoes and soup, or shoes in soup. Essence of shoe, <insert obligatory gusto>.

Oh, yes! This blog shall be like a diary of my daily life – but for all to see. My thoughts, philosophical ramblings and all that long winded crap will also be published here, provided I feel motivated enough to even type it out.

Of course, with everyone able to see this, there will be a small group who won’t be happy with anything I post. Please don’t take me (mostly my opinions) too seriously – I might either be sarcastic or just plain un-serious. In fact, if you do take me seriously and start to attack me via the comments function, I will troll you to hell and back.

Nope, no tag board here. Use the comments function if you wanna, well, make a comment. I’ll check back and reply to you – don’t worry about getting ignored.

P.S.: In case you don’t understand some words – http://www.dictionary.com is here for you.
